We are Carla and Rui, two travel writers working around the world and Portugal for the past 15 years. Everything you will find on portugaltraveldestinations.com is content produced by us, as a result of our travels in Portugal. We don’t write about places we haven’t been, and all of the texts, photos and videos are our own. But who are we?
Who we are
We are a Portuguese couple who dedicates their life to travel and sharing travel stories. Carla is a geographer by training and an explorer at heart. Moved by the thirst of the unknown, she remembers the trips she has already taken and dreams of new adventures every day. Rui is a physicist by training and passionate about history, religion and culture. For him, travel is a privileged way to deepen the knowledge of the world and of our role in life.
What we do
We have traveled together for 15 years and have visited more than 100 countries. We share our travels around Portugal and around the World on a website called Viagens Entre Viagens, written in Portuguese, which has become one of the main Portuguese travel sites, with over 3 million views per year, and tens of thousands of followers on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
We are also the authors of two books, written in Portuguese, “Next Destination – Dream trips tailored to your budget”, on how to travel in low-cost style around the world, and the most recent “Next Destination – Portugal”, about the best destinations in Portugal, both published by Porto Editora, one of the largest Portuguese publishers.
What we want to do
As travelers, we soon discovered that, for as many countries that we knew, we always wanted to return home and travel in Portugal, discovering what it has to show us. And we came to the conclusion that, whenever we travel in Portugal, we find new reasons to continue doing so. But while we produced our content for the website in Portuguese, we always felt that something was left out.
We wanted to reach a wider audience, show Portugal to the world and share our experiences and trips around our country with those who visit it from abroad. So, we decided to create portugaltraveldestinations.com, a website written in English, with top destinations in Portugal, travel suggestions, gastronomy and accommodation tips, people’s stories, lots of information about the history and culture of Portugal, and photos and videos that serve as inspiration for those who want to travel in Portugal and get to know our country.
